Legion post to host blood drive

American Legion Post 341 and Community Blood Center of the Ozarks are teaming up to host a blood drive.

The public is invited to participate in the drive from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 2, at the post, located at U.S. 71 and Kingsland Road in Bella Vista.

Members of the Legion, its auxiliary and Sons of the American Legion who participate will receive a coupon for a discounted lunch at the post during September.

The blood center also announced that participants at all blood drives the week of Sept. 2-6 will receive a 50 percent bonus on LifePoints when they give.

LifePoints is CBCO's donor rewards program, offering dedicated donors gift cards and apparel options online.

Donors can sign up at www.cbco.org.

CBCO is currently under a code yellow alert for O negative blood.

There is currently less than a two-day supply of this type on hospital shelves.

To be eligible to give blood, a person must weigh at least 110 pounds, be in good health and present photo identification.

More information about giving blood is available online at www.cbco.org or by calling toll-free 1-800-280-5337.
