Delta Bank to close Oct. 24

Delta Trust and Bank at the Highlands gate will close its doors for good in October.

Simmons First National Bank has purchased Delta Bank, according to Amy Johnson, corporate marketing director at Simmons.

When a purchase is made, Johnson said, Simmons evaluates each branch to see if it has experienced "sustained growth required to operate a banking facility."

"This particular branch had lack of growth we felt was needed, with no expectation to increase significantly," Johnson said.

The bank will close Friday, Oct. 24.

During the transition process, customers have received or can expect to receive letters about the branch closing, Johnson said.

All Bella Vista branch customer accounts will be moved to Simmons Bank in Bentonville, 1411 S. Walton Blvd. Johnson said the Bentonville bank is 13 miles from the branch at the Highlands gate.

No action is necessary by customers, she added.

After their accounts are transferred, customers may bank at any Simmons Bank branch location. There are 10 full-service locations in northwest Arkansas, Johnson said.

Simmons also offers online, mobile and telephone banking, which can aid customers if their branch is located far from their home, she said.

Questions about the closing or account transfer should be directed to Stephen Lasseigne at 501-377-7610.

According to its website, Simmons Bank began in 1903, opening its first branch in Pine Bluff. The bank operates in Arkansas, Missouri and Kansas.

The former Bella Vista branch of Simmons Bank, which was located at Town Center, closed in October 2013. Dennis Ferguson, president of Simmons First National Bank of Northwest Arkansas, at that time cited a lack of customer traffic as the reason for the closing.
