Letter to the Editor

Branchwood should remain a golf course

In the Aug. 6 edition of The Weekly Vista, there was a letter about "What to do with Branchwood?"

I have a suggestion: Let Branchwood alone and let it be what it's always been -- a true enjoyment for those of us who use it.

Branchwood offers many different things to golfers of any ability. Our grandson is just learning the game. He played with my wife and I and truly enjoyed the experience. We didn't keep score; rather we encouraged him, offered suggestions and reinforced his successes. No pressure, no timetables, no keeping score -- just a fun afternoon. That would not happen on any other course in Bella Vista.

Before we retired, we would come to Bella Vista for a getaway or family gathering. Branchwood was one of the first courses we played. It was relaxing and fun. Isn't that what a golf course is meant to be?

If you don't offer opportunity, it will never happen. We play golf because it is fun and it provides enjoyment like no other sport. Why not reinforce that by providing a golf experience where a score may not matter that much? Keep the Branchwood course.
