Village Baptist

Bella Vista Lutheran

Shepherd's Food Pantry helps feed those in need from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Friday. The congregation has been urged to contribute to the pantry's restocking with jelly, peanut butter, cereal and diapers in sizes five and six. Sugar or gluten-free items are greatly appreciated. Donations from visitors are also welcome and may be dropped off in the fellowship hall at Bella Vista Lutheran Church between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday.

Helping Hands reported that at this time, 87.35 percent of every dollar goes back into the community. So far this year there have been 8,997 client contacts. More help is welcome any day of the week from those who can spare a morning or an afternoon. A container for donations is in the fellowship hall entry cabinets.

A traditional worship service is offered at 8:30 a.m. Sunday and a blended service is at 10:45. Sunday school and adult Bible classes begin at 9:45 a.m.

Community Church

The Men's Study Group meets at 8 a.m. every Wednesday in the parlor at Bella Vista Community Church.

Parish nurses conduct blood pressure checks from 9 a.m. until noon Wednesdays in the nurses' office and between services on the last Sunday of each month in the parlor. There is no charge, and no appointment is necessary. This service is available to anyone in the community.

Prayer Fellowship meets every Wednesday morning at 9:15 in the conference room.

Wednesday Night Family Activities start at 6 p.m. with pizza, followed at 6:30 p.m. by PMK Bible study for all ages. A nursery is provided.

Hope Happens Here cancer support group will meet at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 14, in the parlor.

The Prostate Cancer and Diabetes support groups will not meet in August.

Cups and Croissants will host its annual variety show at 9 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 16, in McKay Hall.

The Rev. Eric Sloter will preach at both the 8:30 a.m. and 10:15 a.m. services Sunday, Aug. 17. The chapel is open for prayer from 8 until 11:30 a.m. Children's Teaching Time for ages 4-12 is offered during the 10:15 a.m. service.

Presbyterian Church

The Missions and Fellowship committees of the Presbyterian Church of Bella Vista will host a back-to-school event at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 16, for the annual collection of school supplies. Early shoppers may obtain a supply list at the information center.

On Sunday, Aug. 17, and the third Sunday of each month, funds will be collected for the Cents-Ability Hunger program to aid in the fight against world hunger and poverty. The collection container is located in the connector hallway.

The Women's Birthday Luncheon is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 22. Sign up at the information center.

The Chancel Choir is taking a break during the summer. Special music will be presented each Sunday until the choir returns Sept. 7.

An Abundance Prayer Team is forming for those committed to being in prayer for each person in the Unity Church community and for the community as a whole for 30 days.

The "Got Talent" show, art show, raffle and silent auction will be held Sept. 20.

Unitarian Universalists of Benton County

Gladys Tiffany will discuss her "Frameworks of Values Operating in the Polarization of Politics" on Sunday, Aug. 17. Tiffany is executive director of the Omni Center in Fayetteville. The Omni Center is composed of northwest Arkansas residents who share a vision for a culture of peace in an earth restored. The group is focused on taking steps toward justice, equality, open communication, meaningful networks and a healthy earth through work on many different activities and programs.

Unitarian Universalists of Benton County meets at the Elks Club, 501 S. 40th St., in Rogers. Sunday services begin with an all-inclusive opening and a traditional closing. Coffee and social time is at 10:30 a.m., and the program starts at 11 a.m. and usually lasts 30 to 40 minutes. Sunday school is available for children through age 15.

Highland Christian (Disciples of Christ)

The 10 a.m. Bible study resumes Wednesday, Aug. 13. It is open to all interested people.

Keller Shepherd Group members will get acquainted over coffee and dessert at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 14, at the church.

Methodist

"Supercharged," a communitywide back-to-school family celebration, is planned from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 15. The event will include: free hot dogs, drinks and watermelon; live music; games; prizes including a cruise and laptops; and free back-to-school haircuts. Bazaar workshops are held from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. every Thursday in the downstairs quilt room. Snacks are available, and those planning to stay the day may bring a sack lunch. No particular talent is required, but those with sewing abilities are greatly appreciated.

Caregivers Support Group provides an essential support system for those who are primary caregivers of family or friends. The group meets at 9 a.m. on the second and fourth Mondays of each month in room 5.

The annual Homes Tour will be held from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 16. Tickets are $10 if purchased in advance or $12 the day of the event. GriefShare is a grief recovery support group where people can find help and healing for the hurt of losing a loved one. The group meets weekly and is looking to start a new session. Evangelical Free

Oasis Food Pantry will be open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 13, at Village Bible Evangelical Free Church.

Also Wednesday, the Building and Missions committees will meet at 4 p.m. Both the Church Services Board and the Women's Ministry Board will have a 5:30 p.m. dinner meeting. The regular 5:30 p.m. dinner will be hamburgers with all the trimmings, plus salad and dessert. Donations will be accepted. Family praise and prayer fellowship plus children's and youth activities begin at 6:20 p.m. Worship Team practice starts at 7:30 p.m.

Ron Morris will lead the Bible study on 1 Peter at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the church. This study is open to anyone who wishes to attend.

Sunday school classes will be available for all ages at 9 a.m. Aug. 17, followed by the 10 a.m. worship service. The Rev. Mark Voll will continue his preaching series on "Truth and Consequences." The sermon is titled "Power That Corrupts" and is based on the life of Solomon from 1 Kings 11. An infant nursery and children's church will be available during the service.

Catholic Church

The Women's Club is gathering school supplies for children in need. Supplies may be dropped off in the parish hall prior to Sunday, Aug. 17.

Bingo will be played Thursday, Aug. 21. Doors and a snack bar open at 5:45 p.m. and play starts at 6:30. The jackpot is always set at $1,000, and all proceeds go to local charities. The community is welcome.
