Welcome to '14 Senior Services Expo

Ahoy! The Bella Vista Resource Advisory Council, staff and volunteers of the Schmieding Center would like to invite and welcome you to the 2014 Senior Services Expo.

The expo will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, May 1, at Riordan Hall. The theme of this year's expo is "A Treasure Chest of Senior Resources."

Our mission is to provide information and education, so you, your family and neighbors are informed of the up-to-date senior resources in our community.

This is the sixth consecutive year that the Schmieding Center in Bella Vista has organized this event with the help and support of Bella Vista Advisory Council, the Property Owners Association and The Weekly Vista. The success of the Senior Expo is due to this continued support.

More than 60 vendors will be on hand to talk about everything from caregiving and housing to estate planning. This is a great opportunity to meet and visit with the vendors that provide services to seniors in our community. If a need should arise, we want you to be well prepared.

In addition to the vendors, there will also be three speakers:

• At 10 a.m., Dr. Wesley Cox, Shoulder Center of Arkansas, will talk about "Happy Shoulders ... Happy Life. A Surgeon's Guide to Avoiding Surgery."

• At 11 a.m., H. Todd Whatley, Certified Elder Law Attorney, will share information on " Nursing Home Reform under the Affordable Care Act."

• At noon, Dr. Tom Lambert, Hull Dermatology, will educate us on "Skin Cancer 101."

Yo Ho Ho! You will not want to miss this event, so come out and participate in the Expo activities and see why it is so important to map out and find your treasure chest of senior resources.

Best of all -- it is free!
