Along with Bryan Wolfgang's promotion to Deputy Chief, two other promotions were recognized during a pinning ceremony Tuesday night.
A restructuring of the department's command staff ranks resulted in the title of lieutenant replaced with that of captain. There are no longer lieutenants within the department. Two vacancies among the rank of captain were filled Tuesday.
A-shift firefighter/paramedic Zech Grotts was promoted to captain. Grotts has been with the department since 2007.
B-shift firefighter/EMT Kevin Thomasson was also named captain. He has been with Bella Vista since 2011, after working previously at other fire departments.
The vacant position of Battalion Chief left by Wolfgang's promotion will be filled after applicants test for the spot, Fire Chief Steve Sims said. The department will begin testing in May.
Until the position is filled, Capt. Jim Johnson will fill in as battalion chief, Sims said.
