NWA Genealogical Society

The society will meet at 6 p.m. Monday, April 28, at the Bentonville Public Library, 405 S. Main. Professional genealogist Diane Giannini will present "Tricks of the Trade -- Having a Successful Research Experience." The lecture provides proven strategies that work so a person is prepared before beginning research.

Calico Cut-Ups

Quilt Guild

The guild will meet at 1 p.m. April 28 at the First United Methodist Church of Bella Vista, 20 Boyce Drive. A social hour begins around noon.

Betty New -- quilt artist, designer, teacher and judge -- will speak about free-motion machine quilting on the home sewing machine, which is her specialty. She also teaches several other types of classes, such as quilting with walking foot, machine applique, skill building and EQ7.

The vendor will be Sew-N-Sew Quilt Shop of Pea Ridge. Show-and-tell will follow a brief business meeting.

St. Bernard

Women's Club

The final meeting of the St. Bernard Women's Club for the 2013-14 program year will be held Friday morning, May 9, at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 1 St. Bernard Lane in Bella Vista. Installation of new officers for 2014-15 will be held at morning Mass and will be followed by brunch served by the club.

The speaker of the day will be Rebecca Christain, founder and chief executive officer of Autumn's Re-Ride Youth Ranch. She will talk about "Healers of the Heart."

The meeting will begin at approximately 9:30 a.m. after morning Mass. All women of the parish are invited.

Civil War

Roundtable

The Northwest Arkansas Civil War Roundtable will hold its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 24, at the Old Store annex of the Shiloh Museum of Ozark History, 118 W. Johnson Ave., in Springdale. Bob Braly of the Historic Cane Hill organization will talk about efforts to preserve the history of this important pioneer community, including its Civil War battlefield.

Kansas Sunflower Club

A pizza luncheon is scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday, April 28, in the Village Insurance Community Room, 2838 Bella Vista Way. Those attending are asked to bring a small salad or dessert to share.

Participants should be prepared to tell one or two interesting things about their hometown in Kansas.

Bella Vista Sunrise Rotary Club

The Bella Vista Sunrise Rotary Club will hear from Roberta Dale at its meeting on Wednesday, April 30. She will speak about Live on Stage in NWA.

The club has a breakfast meeting at 7 a.m. every Wednesday in the main building of Concordia Retirement Center, 1 Concordia Drive, Bella Vista. For more information, call 479-876-2664.

The Kingsdale Squares will dance from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, April 28, at Riordan Hall, 3 Riordan Drive, in Bella Vista. Kenton Sullivan will be the caller.

Wisconsin Club

A spring golf outing is planned for Sunday, May 4. Nine holes will be played at the Berksdale Golf Course starting at 12:30 p.m. in a scramble format. Green fees and carts must be paid for by each player.

A social hour will begin at 4 p.m. at Papa Mike's at Kingsdale. Dinner, featuring bratwurst and all the trimmings, will be served at 4:45 p.m.

The entry fee for golf is $5 and the meal is $10. Non-golfers are invited to the social and dinner.

Retired Nurses

of NWA

The Retired Nurses of NWA will meet at 11:15 a.m. Tuesday, April 29, at Northwest Medical Center in Bentonville, 3000 Medical Center Parkway.

All retired nurses and their guests are welcome to select lunch, which is optional, in the Allspice Cafeteria and carry it across the hall to Classroom B for the meeting and social time.

At noon, a speaker from the Arkansas Regional Organ Recovery Agency, Jean Ann Wilson, will share her knowledge and expertise about organ and tissue donation.
