Brainteasers

The Bella Vista Public Library hosts this event on the third Wednesday of each month. The next session will be from 3 to 4 p.m. April 16. Brainteasers packets are available at the front desk.

Mystery Book Club

Fans of all types of mystery, crime and suspense novels are invited to join the club, which meets in the library from 6 to 7 p.m. on the third Wednesday of each month. The books of Bill Pronzini and Rita Mae Brown will be the topic April 16.

Adult Story Hour

People who enjoy having a good tale read to them and relaxing with a cup of tea and cookies are invited to visit the library from 3 to 4 p.m. Thursday, April 17, as Ginger Hamilton reads short stories. An open discussion will complete the hour.

Dramatic Book Club

This special, interactive Preschool Story Time program will feature the Trike Theatre group at 9:30 a.m. Friday, April 18.

Color My World

Grade-school children through adults are invited to color their cares away at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 19. Attendees of this free program will use the provided crayons to complete their own reproduction of famous masterpieces.

FOL Book Club

The Friends of the Library Book Club meets at 9:30 a.m. on the fourth Wednesday of each month. The selection for April 23 is "The Girls of Atomic City: The Untold Story of the Women Who Helped Win World War II" by Denise Kieman.

Encore Books!

The Friends of the Library's used-book store is open six days a week during regular library hours. The store offers everyday low pricing on hardbacks, DVDs, puzzles, children's books, paperbacks, biographies, health and wellness topics and much more. All proceeds from this ongoing fundraiser support the library.

Check out a Kindle

Kindle Paperwhites and Kindle Fires are available for checkout to patrons in good standing. Each device is loaded with a specific genre of book -- science fiction, bestseller nonfiction, western, inspirational, etc. -- and may be checked out for three weeks. See library staff members for the checkout agreement and procedure.

Exhibits

April's exhibits include items from the Bella Vista Photography Club and a seashell collection from Jerry Dickson. Anyone interested in displaying a collection should contact Cathy at 479-876-7316.

Floral arrangement

Elsie Taylor designed the arrangement for April. Each month, a member of the Bella Vista Garden Club creates an original floral design to be displayed for patrons' enjoyment.

Preschool Story Time

Volunteer storytellers visit the Bella Vista Library at 9:30 a.m. every Friday. Readers are needed. Anyone interested in volunteering should call 479-855-1753.

Teen blog

Check out the blog -- bvplteens.blogspot.com -- created just for Bella Vista Library teens. Anna Sharon regularly posts all the things happening at the library for teens.

Support the troops

The library has teamed up with The Weekly Vista to send care packages to U.S. military troops serving overseas. Pick up a brochure listing the needed supplies, then drop off donations inside the library.
