Forest Hills Church

Highlands Church

Soul Café Sunday School Class, "The Journey," continues to meet at 8:30 a.m. Sundays.

The Jam Sunday School Class will begin a new study titled "Then And Now" on Jan. 5.

A new Beth Moore study, "Daniel, Lives of Integrity, Words of Prophecy" will begin Wednesday, Jan. 8. Classes will meet from 9 to 11 a.m.

A new Bible study titled "Surrender and Win!!!" will begin Thursday, Jan. 16. Classes will meet from 9:30 to 11 a.m.

First United

Methodist

A prayer service is offered at 6 p.m. every Wednesday in the chapel at the First United Methodist Church of Bella Vista.

A youth Christmas play, "Broadcasting Christmas," will take place at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18, in the sanctuary. Cookies and hot cocoa will be offered following the play in Becker Hall.

Youth Life meets Wednesday at 7 p.m. for junior and senior high school students.

Sunday, Dec. 22, the Rev. Jaimie Alexander will continue his new sermon series "Welcome to Our World" with the sermon "Sent to Heal Us," from Matthew 1:18-25 and Acts 10:34-38.

The following events are scheduled for December at First United Methodist Church: Dec. 18 -- children's Christmas play; Dec. 21 -- all-church caroling; Christmas Eve, Dec. 24 -- at noon there will be "Midday at the Manger," and at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. a traditional family and children's message will be offered. The Rev. Lee Myane is beginning a new class presenting the beliefs and practices of Wesleyan Christianity. The class is open to everyone and will meet Wednesday evenings at 7 p.m. in room 23. The book that will be used in the class is $15 and can be purchased in the office.

A Christmas Day potluck, hosted by Chet and Cheryl Campbell, will be held from noon to 1:30 p.m. Dec. 25. Turkey will be provided, and those attending are asked to bring a dish to share. A $5 donation will be accepted to cover the cost of the meal for those unable to bring a dish. Reservations should be made in the office or by calling 479-855-1158 by Dec. 22.

Caregivers Support Group provides an essential support system for those who are primary caregivers of family or a friend. The group meets on the second and fourth Mondays of each month at 9 a.m. in room 5. The community is welcome.

Bella Vista Christian

The new Advent series, "All I Want for Christmas," continues Sunday, Dec. 22. Two worship services are offered Sundays -- the first one at 9 a.m. and the second one at 10:45 a.m. LifeChangers adult Bible class is held at 9 a.m. KidTown for children from birth through fifth grade is open at both services, with radiate students meeting at 10:45 a.m.

The final "Discovery: Getting to Know BVCC" session will take place Dec. 22. This is an opportunity open to anyone wanting to learn more about the church. Check the church website for details.

The church will offer three Christmas Eve family services on Dec. 24 starting at 5, 7 and 11 p.m. A live, interactive Nativity will be in front of the church before the 5 and 7 p.m. services. All services will offer Communion and candle lighting.

Community Church

The Men's Study Group meets at 8 a.m. Wednesdays in the parlor at Bella Vista Community Church.

Parish nurses conduct blood pressure checks from 9 a.m. until noon Wednesdays and between services on the last Sunday of each month. This service is available to anyone in the community. There is no charge and no appointment is necessary.

Prayer Fellowship meets every Wednesday morning at 9:15 in the conference room.

Wednesday night family activities begin at 6 with a pizza supper on the lower level, followed by Bible study from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. for young adults, youth and children. A nursery is provided.

Also Wednesday, a "Newcomers' Orientation" will take place at 6:30 p.m. in the parlor.

The Rev. Eric Sloter will preach at both the 8:30 a.m. and 10:15 a.m. services Sunday, Dec. 22. Chapel Prayer Time will be from 8 to 11:30 a.m.

Connections and the youth group will go Christmas caroling Sunday evening, Dec. 22, at Brookfield and Highlands Health Care.

A Christmas Eve candlelight service will be offered at 3 p.m. and at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 24.

Presbyterian Church

Men's Fellowship will gather for breakfast at 8 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 21, in the fellowship hall. Sign up at the information center to attend.

A Christmas cantata will be offered Sunday, Dec. 22, at the 10 a.m. worship service. Everyone is welcome.

Canned fruit items are being collected for the Helping Hands food pantry this month. Bring donations on Sunday, Dec. 22.

Christmas will be celebrated with a candlelight Communion worship service at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 24.

A Christmas Day worship service will be at 11:15 a.m. followed by a potluck dinner at noon on Dec. 25. Sign up at the information center to attend the dinner.

The church office will be closed on Dec. 24 and 25 for Christmas.

The Missions Committee and children of the church are collecting items for the Northwest Arkansas Children's Shelter. A supply list for the packets is available in the connector hallway. Each child will receive a packet when he or she leaves the shelter.

The Friendly Stitchers meet at 9 a.m. Dec. 19. The Sonshiners meet at 9 a.m. and again at 2:30 p.m. at the Highlands Health Care and Rehabilitation Center.

The community is also welcome to attend the Children's Christmas Program at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 22.

Winter vacation Bible school will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Jan. 2. The theme is "Armor of God." Children can register through the church website.

Shepherd's Food Pantry is open from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. every Friday at Bella Vista Lutheran Church. Currently requested are corn, cornbread, white cake mix, red Jell-O, flour, sugar and AuGratin potatoes. Monetary donations are always welcome. The pantry will be distributing Christmas dinners this month. A shopping cart for donations is in the fellowship hall entry. The pantry will be closed on Dec. 27.

Universalists

of Benton County

Dec. 22 is "Social Sunday," which includes a time-appropriate theme and a potluck luncheon. Music appropriate to the time of the year will also be part of the gathering.

Unitarian Universalists of Benton County meets at the Elks Club, 501 S. 40th St., in Rogers. Coffee and visitation begin at 10:30 a.m., and the service is at 11 a.m. School is available for children potty trained through age 15.

Village Baptist

Men's Bible study on the Book of Hebrews convenes at 9 a.m. Friday at Village Baptist Church.

The Rev. Bill Bowen will present a message from the Galatians 4: 4-5 on Sunday, Dec. 22. Children's Church for ages 4 through sixth grade is offered with a puppet ministry during morning worship in the fellowship hall. Evening services begin at 5.

The annual Christmas lighting service will follow the Rev. Edie Skalitzky's sermon "Lighting the Darkness" on Sunday, Dec. 22.

Handmade Christmas gifts created by Unity members are on display and for sale. Proceeds will be used to support the various Unity activities.

Unity's annual Christmas drive for new stockings is under way. There is a need for all sizes.

The new "Artist's Way" Book Club will begin meeting at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 6, in the church center. Jo Ann Schwader will lead the course in discovering and rediscovering one's creativity.

Evangelical Free

Oasis Food Pantry will be open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at Village Bible Evangelical Free Church.

Also Wednesday, the Building Committee will meet at 4 p.m. and the Women's Ministry Board will have a 5:30 p.m. dinner meeting. The family potluck dinner also will begin at 5:30 p.m. Family praise and prayer fellowship plus children's and youth activities will follow at 6:20 p.m. Choir practice will start at 7:30 p.m., and Worship Team practice begins at 8 p.m.

Men's Breakfast Fellowship will be held at 7 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 21, and the Church Board will meet at 8:30 a.m.

On Sunday, Dec. 22, the first worship service will be at 8:30 a.m. Sunday school classes will be available for all ages at 10 a.m., and the second worship service is at 11 a.m. The Rev.
